A New Kind of Luxury

The other night I was in the kitchen doing some prep work and found myself reaching to turn on the radio or listen to a podcast.

Nothing wrong with either of those, but it’s so easy to default to more noise instead of opting for silence when we have the opportunity.

So I chose silence.

Let me tell you, it felt like a luxury...like giving my mind and my spirit a rest.

In a world that’s more materially affluent than ever, I think that immaterial things like silence, simplicity, and slowness are going to become a new kind of luxury.

Access to them won’t be based on wealth, status, race, or background, but on willingness and awareness. Many will crave them but few will possess them.

How about you? When’s the last time you treated yourself to a little luxury?
