Best Friends

Jesus said something pretty radical to his disciples in John 15,

“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15: 14-15

Jesus tells them that their relationship with him is going to a new level because he’s sharing his heart at a new level. His trusting them with more than ever before. And as they obey his teaching, they confirm their friendship.

This is big. A lot of believers get stuck in a servant/master paradigm. But Jesus says, “Let’s evolve beyond that. I want to us to be friends.”

Is Jesus your friend? Is he your best friend? Do you share your heart with him freely, holding nothing back? Do you obey him because you love him?

Ask God to lead you into deeper obedience and friendship today.
