Fast Company ran an interesting piece on Better Place this year. After reading of its rise and fall, I couldn’t help but compare it to Tesla, another EV company which has taken a very different path and gotten very different results.
Let’s look at the two.
Better Place: arrogant, sporadic, unrealistic, over-promising and under-delivering, extinct.
Tesla: humble, consistent, realistic, under-promising and over-delivering, thriving.
Both wanted to innovate, but only one delivered.
The personal application is not hard to find. It’s great to dream big, but getting there requires humility, realism, determination, etc. It’s easy to talk about what we’re going to do; it’s another thing to actually do it.
As you work towards your goals, think Tesla , not Better Place.
